Welcome to the Utah Chapter (UHIMSS) of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).

The purpose of UHIMSS is to promote professional approaches to the operation, development, and improvement of health care information and management systems that support provision of high-quality patient care at the lowest practicable costs.

The UHIMSS Board would like to congratulate Eric Peterson!
Eric Peterson has been elected President-Elect. Thank you to everyone who voted. Eric has spent 12 years in healthcare IT. He is currently the Director of Information Security Operations for the HCA IT&S Mountain Division (MountainStar Healthcare Network). Previously, Eric was the Director of IT at Craig Hospital in Denver for 10 years. While in Denver, he served on the Board of the Colorado chapter of HIMSS for four years. He is interested in positively contributing to Utah healthcare IT.

Haitian Relief in lieu of this month’s chapter luncheon
In response to the following statement by H. Stephen Lieber, CAE, President and CEO of HIMSS, “While the impact on the Haitian people is beyond our comprehension, HIMSS members’ compassion is again demonstrated through their support of these efforts. I’m urging everyone and every organization to contribute in their own way to assist in alleviating this crisis. It’s from the generosity of our members and their organizations that HIMSS will help to bring a sense of stability to the people of Haiti.” The Utah Chapter of HIMSS has decided that in lieu of this month's chapter luncheon, the board would like to make a donation to the Haitian Relief fund on behalf of our members in the amount of $400. In addition, we would like to encourage everyone to volunteer at least 1 hour to a Haitian relief effort in the next few months. We are investigating options for a UHIMSS volunteer day in the future, but the focus for the Haitian’s now is survival. As you have probably heard, money is what they need immediately. With the UHIMSS donation, plus anything you can give individually will allow the appropriate distribution of the goods and services to Haiti.
The UHIMSS board would like to know where the majority of members would like to see the funds go, so if you have a preference please complete the following UHIMSS member survey: Click Here

Thank you for your service to our local community and to the HIMSS organization. Together we make a difference!
