June 30th marked the end of our 2010-2011 year for UHIMSS. Thank you for your support of our Chapter and the events that we’ve had this year.
It has been a pleasure to work with our dedicated board members. We will miss those who have ended their term on the board. Many of them have served several years supporting our Chapter.
As we begin the 2011-2012 year, I am very excited about the new additions to our board and the outlook for the coming year. The two primary goals that we have identified for the new year are:
• Increase chapter membership by 30%
• Increase membership participation by instituting committees in at least four areas of focus
You will learn more about what we will do to accomplish these goals in this and coming communications.

As mentioned in the President’s message, one of our goals is to get more members involved in our chapter through committees. We would like to start off by forming committees in four areas to serve with our board members. Our objective is to find ways in which we can benefit our chapter members and the Utah healthcare IT community. The four areas include:
• Programs
• Spring Conference
• Membership
• Sponsorship
Please think about this opportunity and let us know if you are interested. This month we will be sending out a survey to our membership and will have a place on that survey for people to note if they are interested. Also, you can contact our chapter President, Eric Peterson, directly to let him know of your interest or to ask any questions. We look forward to your involvement!

It was great to see many of you at the Spring Conference in May. From the attendance, evaluations, and reports that we’ve received, it was a very successful event. Thanks to those who attended and those who participated in the conference for making it such a success. We want to recognize accomplishments of our Utah healthcare IT community.
Recently Computerworld released the results of the Computerworld 100 Best Places to Work in IT 2011 (List). The IT organizations for two of our Utah providers were recognized this year:

Intermountain Healthcare #48
Congratulations to both organizations on this accomplishment!
We plan to make this a part of our newsletter communications and our website. Look for upcoming communications which will outline a process for letting us know about accomplishments that we may want to share with the community.
